Job summary

Harmony Senior Services in Herndon, Virginia is seeking a friendly dining server to courteously serve resident and guest meals and to assist with setting and clearing tables in the dining room.

You'll follow resident care standards, support beverage service, and help maintain a clean, organized dining environment, with opportunities for training and career growth in a supportive team culture.

Qualifications

• Reading and following simple instructions.
• Ability to perform simple, repetitive tasks.
• Ability to learn quickly and apply learned principles.
• Effective communication and ability to work under close supervision.
• Ability to bend, reach, grasp, push and pull objects.
• Stand and walk for extended periods up to 3 hours.
• Lift 50 lbs and carry heavy objects for 20 feet.
• Be organized and work well with others.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Serve resident and guest meals courteously and assist with dining room cleanup and reset.
• Assist residents when placing orders from the menu.
• Provide beverage service (water, iced tea, juices, milk and coffee/tea).
• Refill salt/pepper/sugar bowls prior to and after each meal.
• Report any broken equipment or tableware to supervisor.
• Understand sit-down service and proper serving techniques.
• Basic understanding of food preparation (salads, desserts, etc.).
• Knowledge of proper food storage and labeling techniques.
• Sweep, mop, and vacuum kitchen and dining areas.
• Attend required in-services and staff meetings.
• Complete all other duties assigned.
• Be attentive to special needs of residents and interact politely with residents, guests, coworkers and supervisors.
• Assist with tray service.
