Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Digital Twin & Simulation Principal to lead the strategy, design, and implementation of high‑fidelity digital twins for machines, jobsites, and end‑to‑end workflows supporting automation and robotics.

The role requires deep expertise in simulation architecture, governance, and integration with real‑time data, plus collaboration with senior management to build multi‑year roadmaps. Strong communication and leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, or related discipline; Master’s or PhD preferred.
• 10+ years in simulation, robotics or autonomy with Omniverse experience preferred.
• Strong expertise in system-level simulation and digital twin technologies.

Responsibilities

• Define the long-term vision for simulation supporting automation and robotics.
• Establish a multi-year simulation and digital twin roadmap for automation and robotics.
• Translate business requirements into simulation solutions and identify where simulations can support robotics.
• Create system-level architecture deliverables with the chief architect and robotics team.
• Determine technologies, platforms, and integration patterns to support simulation capabilities.
• Collaborate with engineering, autonomy, controls, software, product teams, and data groups to ensure outcomes are met.
• Assess current simulation assets and chart strategy to integrate or consolidate into a cohesive digital ecosystem for robotics.
• Oversee model validation, correlation with physical test data, and governance to keep digital twins accurate.
