Job summary

Peraton seeks a Senior Digital Forensics Automation SME to optimize and modernize workflows for a federal government customer. The role focuses on reducing case backlogs, improving examiner efficiency, and standardizing ICAC-style investigations with automated platforms.

Qualifications

• 12+ years with BS/BA; 10+ years with MS; 7+ years with PhD; higher degree may substitute for experience
• 5+ years hands-on digital forensics, ICAC or similar law enforcement investigations
• Experience designing/improving forensic lab workflows and automation pipelines
• Proficiency with forensic processing automation platforms and tools
• Secret clearance required at time of hire
• Active certification: EnCE, CFCE, CCE, MCFE or equivalent

Responsibilities

• Analyze existing digital forensics workflows to identify bottlenecks and automation opportunities
• Design, build, and maintain automated forensic processing workflows for parallel, unattended processing
• Configure and optimize digital media analysis pipelines for large-scale investigations
• Standardize workflows for mobile forensics, cloud acquisition, and network investigations
• Develop and maintain SOPs for digital evidence handling aligned with DOJ/ICAC requirements
• Track lab throughput and provide performance reports to leadership
• Evaluate new forensic tools and liaise with vendors for updates
• Deliver training to examiners on automated workflows and SOP adherence
• Mentor junior examiners on best practices for tool-based workflows
• Ensure workflows meet lab accreditation and support legal defensibility
