Job summary

Thomson Reuters is seeking an experienced Deputy Digital Director to lead daily digital coverage and shape programming and presentation of our journalism, prioritizing audiences and reinforcing subscription value. The role sits at the center of the daily news cycle, coordinating across regions and platforms from New York or Washington, D.C.

Qualifications

• Senior newsroom experience and ability to lead live coverage and set priorities during major breaking-news events.
• Exceptional news judgment with accuracy, fairness and independence.
• Strong writing and editing across platforms, including headlines, mobile alerts and visuals.
• Understanding of audience and subscriber value, using analytics in decision-making.
• Experience running news meetings, coaching editors and aligning desks.
• Broad knowledge of international affairs and business news for general and professional audiences.
• Collaborative, low-ego leadership with willingness to work nights, weekends and major events.

Responsibilities

• Lead digital news meetings, set clear priorities and translate audience strategy into daily execution.
• Oversee programming and curation of Reuters journalism across platforms to balance breaking news and enterprise.
• Make calm editorial decisions during major events and coordinate coverage across desks and time zones.
• Elevate front-page curation, headlines, mobile alerts and visuals using audience insights.
• Partner with reporters, editors and cross-functional teams to deliver distinctive digital journalism.
• Develop a team of digital editors and foster alignment beyond reporting lines.
• Act on behalf of the Digital Director when required and uphold Reuters Trust Principles.
