Job summary

LYNX in Orlando, FL seeks a Senior Diesel Fleet Technician (Operator: Technician "A") to diagnose, repair, inspect and maintain our transit fleet and support equipment. You will work with diesel engines, electrical systems, hybrid tech, brakes, steering and more in a safety-focused environment.

The role emphasizes problem-solving, quality repairs, and keeping communities moving. This bargaining-unit position follows a seniority-based bidding system for shifts and days off, with hourly pay rate

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED plus four years’ transit or heavy vehicle maintenance experience plus two years of technical school.
• Must possess and maintain a current Florida CDL Class B with Passenger endorsement and Airbrakes.

Responsibilities

• Carry out ordinary mechanical, hydraulic or structural maintenance repairs and adjustments.
• Determine the source of trouble; repair or replace defective parts or make changes as instructed.
• Work from written or verbal instructions, blueprints, schematics, diagrams, vendor manuals and manufacturer’s specifications to accomplish work.
• Apply diagnostic and analytical tools in problem solving.
• Use testing equipment such as compression testers, engine/transmission readers, multimeters, AMP meters, logic probes and exhaust gas analyzers.
• Perform on-road repairs and tow buses if necessary.
• Diagnose, tune and repair engines; replace major engine components.
• Diagnose and repair electronic engine and transmission controls and sensors and wiring harness.
• Diagnose and repair transmissions and battery electric and hybrid bus components.
• Replace engine/transmission assemblies and accessories.
• Diagnose, repair and replace air systems and relines brakes.
• Diagnose, repair and replace steering and suspension components.
• Diagnose and repair wiring harnesses and electrical subsystems.
• Diagnose and replace wheelchair lifts components; perform A and C inspections.
• Diagnose and replace all A/C components.
