Job summary

Performance Foodservice is seeking an experienced diesel fleet mechanic in Glen Allen, VA to diagnose and repair medium to heavy‑duty trucks, trailers, and reefer units. You will perform PMs, inspections, and on‑site repairs, while documenting work orders and parts usage in our maintenance system.

This role requires 5+ years of repair experience (including A/C refrigeration) and offers competitive hourly pay, with opportunities for training, advancement and comprehensive benefits starting Day 1.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of medium to heavy-duty vehicle repair including PMs, tires & wheels, air and air disc brakes, diagnosis, computerized diagnostics, electrical troubleshooting, electronic component repair and at least 2 years in A/C refrigeration.
• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent is required.
• Experience with diagnostic tools and enterprise maintenance systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on fleet diesel equipment (tractors, trailers, reefer units) and identify root causes of failures.
• Inspect brakes, steering, wheel bearings, and replace parts as needed to keep vehicles roadworthy.
• Ensure licensing/registration is current and vehicles are roadworthy.
• Document repairs and PMs in the online Enterprise Asset Management system.
• Install/repair onboard computers.
• Operate hand and power tools for maintenance tasks.
• Provide training to other employees.
