Job summary

United Rentals is hiring a Diesel Mechanic - Experienced (Service Tech IV) to repair and maintain a range of complex equipment with limited supervision. You will support the Service Department, train junior technicians, and ensure safe, high-quality workmanship for rental and customer equipment.

Role emphasizes strong mechanical knowledge, problem solving, and dependable service delivery with occasional travel to customer sites. Excellent customer service and teamwork are expected.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• 5+ years of experience repairing/maintaining equipment and tools.
• Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools.
• Extensive knowledge of construction equipment with an advanced understanding of schematics and diagrams.
• Must own tools applicable to position.
• Superior customer service, teamwork and verbal/written communication skills.
• Ability to frequently lift items up to 45 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance and repair of complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems on a variety of rental and customer equipment and tools while using a high degree of independent judgment.
• Travel to customer job sites for repair/maintenance of rental or customer owned equipment; maintain service vehicle clean and professional.
• Assist in the training of lower level technicians as needed.
• Maintain paperwork/electronic documentation of work performed (work orders) daily.
• Assist with pick-up and delivery of equipment & parts.
• Other duties assigned as needed.
