Job summary

Siemens is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer – Diesel Engine Systems to support aftermarket and service engineering for diesel engine platforms. You will evaluate hardware, analyze failures, and develop practical solutions for overhaul and remanufacturing in a collaborative, customer‑facing environment.

Based in Sacramento, CA; Chicago, IL; or Philadelphia, PA, you will work hybrid with cross‑functional teams to improve durability, reliability, and lifecycle cost, traveling as needed to

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Mechanical Engineering or related subject area.
• 5+ years of experience working with diesel engine systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop engineering requirements, specifications, validation plans, and BOMs.
• Perform root cause analysis on engine systems and components.
• Conduct hands-on hardware evaluations, teardown, and validation.
• Identify, evaluate, and qualify alternative suppliers.
• Define reuse criteria, wear limits, inspection methods, and acceptance standards.
• Recommend design and process improvements to extend service life.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to move solutions from analysis to implementation.
• Provide clear technical explanations and documentation for customers.
• Create technical documentation, test reports, and CAD drawings for production or field use.
