Job summary

Surefire Cyber is seeking a Senior Consultant in Digital Forensics and Incident Response (DFIR) for a fully remote role serving U.S. clients.

You will lead forensic investigations, analyze intrusions, mentor teammates, and guide clients through incident response with clear communication and after-hours support as needed. You bring advanced DFIR expertise, strong problem-solving, and the ability to work under pressure across diverse industries.

Qualifications

• Experience in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, related degree, industry certifications, or prior senior forensic roles.
• Proficiency with digital forensic artifacts and tools (ELK, Axiom, Encase, FTK).
• Strong network analysis and intrusion-detection familiarity.
• Excellent problem-solving, under-pressure performance, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Guide clients through incident response lifecycle from detection to recovery.
• Lead forensic investigations on small to medium engagements; malware analysis when needed.
• Mentor less experienced team members and share expertise.
• Explain attack vectors and techniques to mitigate future risks.
• Document findings with clear, thorough reports and evidence.
• Collaborate across internal/external teams to improve IR processes.
• Stay updated on the latest forensic tools and methods.
• Provide after-hours on-call support as required.
