Job summary

Austal USA Advanced Technologies (AT) seeks a DFAM Engineer IV to drive design for additive manufacturing across polymer and metal applications. You will work with the Director of Advanced Technology to solve customer issues, train staff, and advance additive projects.

You will mentor junior engineers, collaborate with manufacturing teams, and support both production and R&D proposals in a fast-paced environment at our Charlottesville tech hub and national AM COE ecosystem.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or higher in an Engineering field.
DfAM expertise in polymer and metal applications.
Experience with reverse engineering technologies and transitioning capture data into models.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

Provide expertise in DfAM.
Provide in-depth engineering support for the additive manufacturing process.
Design products for additive manufacturing with focus on performance, quality, reliability, cost and ease of manufacturing.
Partner with manufacturing teams to identify Additive Manufacturing opportunities.
Provide mentorship to junior engineers.
Offer creative solutions for difficult problems.
Support proposal development for both production and R&D programs.
