Job summary

VulcanForms is seeking a Senior Product Engineer, Additive, to design and direct manufacturing processes for aerospace & defense, translating customer designs into printable production processes. You will contribute to new product introduction and continuous improvement of parts in production using advanced manufacturing, automation, and lean methods.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in product or applications development in LPBF or similar additive technology.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Materials, Aerospace, Biomedical Engineering or related field (AS9100 experience preferred).
• Expert-level proficiency in 3D CAD software and printing build-prep tools.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate customer designs and provide DFAM feedback.
• Synthesize technical requirements to support cost estimation, technical risk assessment, and development timelines.
• Partner with the rest of the product team to optimize processing for customer requirements.
• Own process development for all print setup and printing operations including materials properties development, simulation analysis, layout optimization, support structure design and stock additions.
• Work with quality resources to ensure inspection techniques meet requirements in development and production contexts.
• Develop design documentation to support the manufacturing process including manufacturing specs, solid models and drawings.
• Write and maintain work instructions and quality documentation, adapting processes for new products and maintaining configuration control.
• Support operations with troubleshooting and problem-solving for all printing processes
