Job summary

Amentum is seeking a DevSecOps Engineer to design and operate secure cloud and on‑prem infrastructure at Schriever Space Force Base or Redstone Arsenal. You will implement IaC, CI/CD with security, and collaborate with engineers, cybersecurity, and program leadership to deliver resilient systems.

The role emphasizes automation, observability, and secure deployment practices across hybrid environments, with DoW Secret clearance and DoW 8570 II certification required.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of general full-time work experience.
• 4+ years in systems engineering/cloud infrastructure etc.
• 6+ months in management/leadership role.
• Experience designing/operating production infra in AWS/Azure/GCP or hybrid.
• Strong IaC and config-management tooling experience.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines using GitLab, Jenkins, or similar.
• Linux admin, scripting (Python/Bash/PowerShell/Go).
• Experience with container/orchestration (Kubernetes/OpenShift).
• Knowledge of security engineering principles (IAM, secret management, encryption).
• Experience with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, etc.).
• DoW Secret clearance and current DoW 8570 IAT II certification.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain secure infrastructure across cloud/hybrid/on-prem.
• Develop and manage IaC with Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation, or Pulumi.
• Build CI/CD pipelines with integrated security controls and approvals.
• Integrate security into the SDLC including scanning and remediation.
• Operate container platforms using Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift.
• Establish observability with logging, metrics, dashboards, SLIs/SLAs.
• Enforce identity, access, secret management, encryption, and least-privilege.
• Support availability, incident response, disaster recovery, and backups.
• Automate routine ops to reduce drift and MTTR.
• Create runbooks, reference architectures, and design reviews.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote secure engineering practices.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to prioritize improvements.
