Job summary

Chexology is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to own infrastructure end-to-end in a fully remote US role. You will drive IaC on AWS/Heroku, build robust observability, and tighten security while managing Aurora MySQL deployments. You’ll improve CI/CD, reliability, and incident response, collaborating closely with a small, hands-on team.

You’ll also participate in cost optimization, runbooks, and on-call duties, enabling the platform to scale while keeping operational toil low.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in DevOps/SRE/platform roles serving live customers.
• Deep hands-on AWS experience (Aurora MySQL, S3) and PaaS like Heroku.
• Strong CI/CD expertise with reliable build/release pipelines.
• Solid observability with dashboards, alerts, and tracing.
• Experience with MySQL/Aurora database ops and backups.
• Security instincts: secrets management, access control, vulnerability management.
• Comfort around background-job systems and some application code reading/writing.
• Excellent written communication and autonomy in a small team.

Responsibilities

• Own infrastructure, make it reproducible with IaC (AWS/Heroku).
• Build observability layer with dashboards, alerts, and tracing.
• Tame background processing and manage job queues with UI tooling.
• Improve security posture: audit logs, SOC2 groundwork, access controls.
• Manage Aurora MySQL fleet: upgrades, backups, replicas.
• Make CI/CD fast and reliable; improve build times and reversibility.
• Improve reliability with runbooks, on-call practices, post-incident reviews.
• Monitor costs and optimize infrastructure spend.
