Job summary

Sprezzatura is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to design, build, and operate scalable cloud infrastructure for the VA.gov Platform. You will enable dozens of engineering teams with automated deployment pipelines, observability, and reliable services across production environments.

Responsibilities include designing infrastructure, developing reusable modules, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions/Jenkins.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident (Required).
• Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent.
• 7–10 years' experience as a DevOps Engineer.
• Hands-on production experience with AWS.
• Experience deploying and operating Kubernetes (Amazon EKS or equivalent).
• Strong proficiency with Terraform (Terragrunt preferred).
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar).
• Strong Linux systems administration and shell scripting experience.
• Networking fundamentals, DNS, TLS, load balancing, and container networking.
• Experience with containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).
• Experience troubleshooting production infrastructure and on-call rotations.
• Ability to work with engineering teams and government stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain cloud infrastructure supporting VA.gov Platform.
• Develop reusable infrastructure modules and automation for multiple teams.
• Improve platform scalability, resiliency, reliability, and efficiency.
• Contribute to internal platform capabilities to improve developer experience.
• Provision and manage cloud infrastructure using IaC (Terraform/Terragrunt).
• Build and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Argo CD, Jenkins).
• Participate in production on-call responsibilities.
• Troubleshoot production infrastructure and Kubernetes clusters.
• Build infrastructure meeting security, availability, and performance requirements.
• Collaborate with security engineers to improve Platform security posture.
