Job summary

UC Davis seeks a DevOps Engineer to join a cloud-native, risk and safety Solutions team. Work on rapid IT service delivery, CI/CD in AWS, IaC, scripting, and security hardening. The role emphasizes collaboration with development, operations, BI, and information security to automate tasks and ensure secure, scalable infrastructure.

Hybrid work arrangement; candidates must be authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available at this time.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience/training.
• Experience automating tasks with Bash, Python, or Node.js.
• Experience building/scaling cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Knowledge of server networking, HTTP and web services.
• Experience with containerization/orchestration, IaC, GitOps, and CM tools like Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, FluxCD, Chef, Puppet, Ansible, Salt, or CloudFormation.
• Experience configuring/troubleshooting databases such as MySQL, SQL Server, ElasticSearch, MongoDB with backups and DR.
• Knowledge of advanced security best practices and policies for complex server-based software.

Responsibilities

• 70% DevOps engineering responsibilities.
• 20% Operations security tasks.
• 10% Research and proficiency development with new technology systems.
