Job summary

VTG in Chantilly, VA is seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer to design, deploy, and maintain secure, scalable AWS infrastructure and Kubernetes clusters, while building robust CI/CD pipelines.

You will automate with Python, optimize cloud resources, monitor systems with Prometheus and Grafana, and support Neo4j graph databases in high-security environments.

This hands-on role requires TS/SCI with polygraph, a BS in CS or IT, and strong collaboration across software and security teams.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI with Polygraph.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
• Strong experience in DevOps engineering, systems engineering, cloud engineering, or infrastructure automation.
• Hands-on experience managing and maintaining Kubernetes clusters within AWS environments.
• Proficiency in Python for scripting, automation, and back-end development.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or comparable tools.
• Experience with Neo4j graph databases and performance optimization.
• Knowledge of monitoring, logging and security in cloud and container environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, manage, and maintain secure, scalable, and highly available infrastructure within AWS environments.
• Manage and optimize Kubernetes clusters for availability, reliability, performance, and security.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration, deployment, and operations using Python and DevOps tools.
• Optimize Kubernetes deployments and cloud resources for performance and cost efficiency.
• Troubleshoot complex infrastructure, application deployment, and system performance issues.
• Collaborate with software engineering teams to support application integration, deployment, and operations.
• Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or similar platforms.
• Develop Python scripts and automation solutions to streamline administration, deployment, monitoring, and workflows.
• Improve software delivery processes through automated builds, testing, integration, and deployment.
• Identify opportunities to reduce manual processes and improve infrastructure efficiency and reliability.
• Support containerized deployments and lifecycle management within Kubernetes environments.
• Implement and maintain monitoring, logging, and observability with Prometheus, Grafana, and the ELK Stack.
• Monitor system health, identify performance bottlenecks, and proactively resolve issues.
• Implement security best practices across AWS, Kubernetes, and deployments.
• Support operations in high-security environments while adhering to security protocols.
• Develop and execute testing strategies to ensure reliability and readiness.
• Participate in technical reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
