Job summary

Palo Alto Networks is seeking a Principal DevOps Engineer for the Cortex platform. You will architect, scale, and optimize a massive, multi-region GCP environment and set engineering standards for infrastructure-as-code.

You will champion system resilience, drive cost optimization, and lead automation across CI/CD and platform engineering while collaborating with product teams to ensure services are containerized and highly observable.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or Cloud Architecture with ownership of large production environments.
• Cloud infra experience in GCP or AWS with multi-region architectures and IAM governance.
• Expert Kubernetes (GKE/EKS) and cloud-native ecosystem knowledge.
• Automation & software engineering focus; Python or Go, Terraform module design.
• Enterprise CI/CD and GitOps experience (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
• Observability and telemetry expertise with Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, and PagerDuty.

Responsibilities

• Architect global, multi-region cloud infrastructure with IaC (Terraform).
• Define robust, secure, self-healing CI/CD workflows; shorten time-to-market for Cortex features.
• Optimize global GCP footprint for performance and cost; ensure high availability.
• Advise Product Engineering on architecture to ensure containerization and observability.
• Lead post-mortems; identify systemic vulnerabilities and design mitigations.
• Develop internal platforms, automated remediation, and auto-scaling tools.
