Job summary

RealTime eClinical Solutions is seeking a Principal DevOps Architect to lead cloud platform architecture for a global, multi-tenant clinical trial service. You will design and implement infrastructure as code, CI/CD, and AI tooling, while writing Terraform, building pipelines, and standing up the AI platform yourself.

This hands-on architect role focuses on reliability, security (HIPAA/SOC 2), and scalable platform governance across development, UAT, staging, and production environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in software engineering or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• 10+ years in SRE/DevOps/platform engineering delivering CI/CD, REST API deployment, containerization, IaaS/PaaS, data pipelines, and observability.
• Hands-on experience with Terraform, modularization and remote state in CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience building and operating CI/CD pipelines for large-scale applications on AWS (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab, or AWS-native).
• Experience running containerized workloads on Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with monitoring and troubleshooting using cloud-native tooling and OpenTelemetry.
• Linux system administration, Unix scripting, and automation.
• 2+ years in PHP, MySQL, and SQL is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own the platform architecture and technical roadmap for infrastructure, deployment, observability, and AI platform, guiding engineering leadership.
• Set engineering standards for infrastructure as code, CI/CD, and AI tooling, driving adoption via reference implementations.
• Act as hands-on technical authority, mentoring engineers without direct management responsibilities.
• Drive move to infrastructure as code and AI tooling, enforcing vetted AI tool use.
• Evaluate build/buy decisions for platform tooling; final decisions by VP/CTO.
• Design and deploy AWS infrastructure for performance, security, and recoverability across environments.
• Maintain and improve multi-tenant database and hosting architecture in a cloud environment.
