Job summary

New Hanover County is seeking a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) to serve as Chief Project Engineer (Development Review). You will lead engineering review of private development for compliance with regulations and design standards, and supervise staff across development projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering field; PE license required.
• 5+ years of progressively responsible engineering experience including 2+ years in supervision and project management in stormwater, erosion control, utilities, and site development.

Responsibilities

• Review private development plans for compliance with regulations and standards.
• Provide engineering review for drainage, stormwater management, and erosion and sedimentation control.
• Coordinate with developers, engineers, contractors, owners and regulators to resolve engineering issues.
• Supervise staff and manage projects from planning through permitting, bidding, construction, and completion.
