Job summary

Unissant, Inc. seeks a Development Lead to support clients in the Washington DC-Baltimore area. The ideal candidate will be a technical expert, guiding architectural decisions across multiple disciplines and shaping long-term IT strategy.

This role focuses on leading development teams, delivering API-driven and microservices-based solutions, and collaborating with architecture and DevOps to ensure secure, compliant delivery while mentoring staff.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of software development experience, with at least 5 years in a technical leadership role.
• Proven experience leading development teams supporting enterprise-scale, high-availability applications.
• Strong experience with modern programming languages and frameworks (Java, .NET, Spring Boot, RESTful services).
• Designing and developing API-driven, microservices-based applications.
• Integrating with external systems and data sources via APIs and data exchanges.
• Experience implementing secure coding practices and compliance with federal security standards.
• Experience supporting Agile development environments (Scrum or SAFe).
• Experience managing code quality, peer reviews, and automated testing practices.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps collaboration models.
• Experience supporting federal healthcare or CMS systems strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Drive continuous improvement in development processes.
• Develop enterprise-level applications and custom integrations including major enhancements and interfaces.
• Provide automated systems applications and API functionality across platforms.
• Oversee design, development, testing, and deployment activities.
