Job summary

Hong Kong Metropolitan University seeks a Senior Development and Alumni Affairs Manager to lead fundraising and alumni engagement for the Chinese Mainland and HKMU Shenzhen Research Institute support. Qualifications

• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree with at least 8 years of relevant experience in development or alumni relations.
• Well-established Mainland network including government and philanthropic sectors.
• Experience in fundraising and soliciting major gifts in higher education or non-profit sectors.
• Sound knowledge of Hong Kong’s tertiary education sector.
• Excellent leadership, organizational and communication skills.
• Fluent in English and Chinese, with Putonghua proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategies to secure philanthropic and research grant support in collaboration with Mainland partners.
• Identify, cultivate, solicit prospective donors and oversee comprehensive donor stewardship.
• Support Mainland grant-funded projects and promote funding opportunities.
• Strengthen Mainland alumni relations through programs, events and communications.

The Development and Alumni Affairs Office is seeking an experienced and dynamic professional to lead fundraising and alumni engagement initiatives in the Chinese Mainland, and to support research funding for the Hong Kong Metropolitan University Shenzhen Research Institute.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

• Developing and executing strategies to secure philanthropic and research grant support from key prospects and institutional partners, including individuals, alumni, corporations, and foundations, in close collaboration with Mainland partners and donors;
• Identifying, cultivating, and soliciting prospective donors, and overseeing comprehensive donor stewardship;
• Supporting the application and management of Chinese Mainland grant-funded projects, and coordinating activities to promote funding opportunities;
• Strengthening Mainland alumni relations and expanding the alumni network through strategic programmes, events, and communications, and by supporting the HKMU Alumni Association and other alumni groups;
• Enhancing the University’s overall fundraising capability in support of institutional advancement and new campus development; and
• Undertaking other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Irregular working hours and travel within the Chinese Mainland are required.

Candidates

Candidates should possess the following qualifications, experience, and competence:

• A Master’s or Bachelor’s degree with at least 8 years of relevant experience in development, alumni relations, Mainland development, or related fields;
• Well-established Mainland network, including knowledge of government, institutional, and philanthropic sectors;
• Experience in fundraising and soliciting major gifts, particularly in the higher education or non-profit sector, is an advantage;
• Sound knowledge of Hong Kong’s tertiary education sector;
• Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills;
• A positive, innovative, proactive, and results-oriented mindset; and
• Outstanding command of written and spoken English and Chinese, with fluency in Putonghua.

Preference will be given to candidates with a strong record in Hong Kong’s tertiary education sector. Shortlisted candidates may be invited to attend a written test.
