Job summary

Hong Kong Metropolitan University (HKMU) seeks a Manager (OSI) in the Office of Strategic Initiatives to drive strategic collaborations across the Chinese Mainland and internationally, and to develop executive education programmes.

Reporting to the Vice President, the appointee will coordinate cross-unit initiatives, engage key stakeholders, and lead a small team to bolster HKMU's presence and network in the Mainland.

Qualifications

  • A recognized degree, preferably a higher degree.
  • Strong organizational and detail orientation; ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee cross-border collaborations and executive education programme development.
  • Identify and advance strategic partnerships with the Mainland and international partners.
  • Coordinate communication among Schools and Offices for planning and implementation of initiatives.
  • Manage stakeholder engagement with government authorities, industry groups and academic institutions.
  • Coordinate team efforts to enhance HKMU's presence and network in the Mainland.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Vice President of the Office of Strategic Initiatives, the appointee will be part of a team supporting strategic initiatives of the University, including its advancement as a University of Applied Sciences (UAS), the expansion of strategic collaborations in the Chinese Mainland and internationally, as well as the development of executive education programmes. The appointee will be responsible mainly for the following:

  • Providing oversight and support for strategic initiatives, including cross-border collaborations and the development of executive education programmes;

  • Identifying and advancing strategic partnership opportunities in the Chinese Mainland, including facilitating the development of collaborative projects and initiatives;

  • Coordinating communication among relevant Schools and Offices within the University for the planning, development, and implementation of strategic initiatives;

  • Managing the University’s communication and engagement with key stakeholders, particularly in the Chinese Mainland, including government authorities, industry organizations, and academic institutions;

  • Overseeing and coordinating team efforts in supporting the Office’s functions, with particular emphasis on enhancing the University’s presence, visibility, and network within the Chinese Mainland; and

  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Candidates

Candidates should possess the following qualifications, experience and competence:

  • A recognized degree, preferably a higher degree, with at least six years of relevant work experience, preferably gained in a tertiary education setting;

  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively;

  • Ability to work both collaboratively and independently with internal and external parties at all levels;

  • Proactiveness and devotion with strong leadership and supervisory skills;

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with high proficiency in Putonghua and written Chinese; and

  • Proficiency in computer applications such as MS Word, MS Excel and English and Chinese word processing.
