Job summary

QTS Realty Trust is seeking a Senior Development Accountant to support the Development Accounting team. You will handle month-end close, journal entries, accruals, fixed assets and depreciation calculations, while ensuring internal controls and data integrity across capital build projects.

The role requires strong GAAP knowledge, experience with Workday and complex financial analysis. You will interact with multiple stakeholders and help prepare budgets, forecasts, and audit schedules for

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• Three+ years of accounting experience; CPA preferred.
• Experience with project accounting, general ledger, fixed assets or related areas.

Responsibilities

• Provides guidance on processes and procedures to team members as needed.
• Provide complex accounting treatments and analysis.
• Troubleshoot and resolve system issues to ensure data integrity.
• Assist with compliance of internal controls and current processes documentation.
• Prepare month-end close including journal entries, accruals, depreciation and capitalized interest; reconciliations.
• Perform general ledger reconciliations and analyses of income statements and balance sheets.
• Assist with monthly/quarterly/year-end financial statements and annual budget/forecasts.
• Review capital purchase requests for accurate GL coding vs. budgeted expenditures.
• Prepare audit schedules and analyses for year-end audits; support software/process upgrades as needed.
• Support upgrades and enhancements to accounting software and processes.

This role will work closely with our existing team of accountants to provide guidance and assistance where needed to complete month-end procedures and reports to an Accounting Manager.The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting background in one or more related areas of construction, development or real estate. This candidate will be familiar with accounting for the capital spend/ internal controls of “build out” project activities as it relates to budgeting, construction costs, product development, office furniture needs etc.The position requires experience and expertise in managing multiple requests complemented by strong problem solving and analytical skills. To be successful in this role, demonstrated accuracy in urgent responses while maintaining high level view of issues and requirements is critical.
