Block is hiring a Developer Experience Engineer to improve the monorepos, build tooling, and guide migrations. You will enable engineers and AI agents to work efficiently by shaping build, test, and deployment processes across teams.

You will drive framework upgrades, dependency updates, and robust testing, while mentoring others on migration strategies and toolchains to sustain long-term health of the codebase.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in large, complex codebases.
• Experience with framework upgrades and migrations.
• Led migrations or large refactors from planning to rollout.
• Able to navigate unfamiliar code quickly and affect many teams.
• Understanding of agentic loops and reliable AI-assisted workflows.

Responsibilities

• Lead large-scale changes across codebase with minimal disruption.
• Design and evolve agentic loops for safe AI-driven work.
• Identify friction in developer workflows and fix root causes.
• Improve build tooling and CI performance.
• Build guardrails, tests, and automation for large changes.
• Collaborate with product engineering to measure impact and direction.
