Job summary

Fairstead seeks a Senior Developer, Affordable Housing to support acquisitions, rehabilitation, and development across the US. You will lead multiple projects from underwriting to stabilization, mentoring staff and shaping investment decisions for executive leadership.

The role emphasizes high-level financial analysis, entitlements coordination, and collaboration with internal and external teams to secure debt/equity financing and government subsidies. Travel is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field required; advanced degree is a plus.
  • Ten years of experience in real estate development and/or construction; affordable housing or multi-family preferred.
  • LIHTC, Section 8 and Public Housing development experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience managing and growing a small team is a plus but not required.
  • Strong quantitative, financial analysis and modeling (Excel) skills.
  • Exceptional research and writing abilities; strong written and verbal communications.

Responsibilities

  • Manage lifecycle of multiple affordable housing development projects from underwriting through stabilization and 8609s.
  • Provide leadership, mentor junior staff, and contribute to team growth.
  • Contribute to investment analysis and present materials to executive leadership.
  • Assemble due diligence data including financial, market, site, and regulatory information.
  • Manage project proformas, budgets, schedules, and underwriting assumptions.
  • Prepare debt/equity financing applications and documentation; guide subsidy renewals.
