Job summary

Fairstead is seeking a Senior Developer, Affordable Housing to lead development efforts across core markets in the US. You will shepherd projects from underwriting to stabilization, coordinating internal teams and external consultants to support investment decisions.

The role demands 10 years in real estate development with LIHTC experience, strong financial modeling, and excellent written and verbal communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in related field required; advanced degree is a plus.
• 10 years of experience in real estate development and/or construction, preferably affordable housing or multi-family.
• LIHTC, Section 8 and Public Housing development experience strongly preferred.
• Experience managing and growing a small team is a plus but not required.
• Strong quantitative, financial analysis and modeling (Excel) skills.
• Exceptional research and writing abilities.
• Exceptional written and verbal communications skills.
• Strong project management skills and follow-through.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a changing environment; sense of urgency and accountability.

Responsibilities

• Manage the lifecycle of multiple affordable housing development projects from initial underwriting through closing to stabilization.
• Demonstrate leadership, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to team growth.
• Contribute to investment analyses and present materials to executive leadership.
• Compile due diligence information including financial, market, site, and regulatory data.
• Manage project proformas including budgets, schedules, and underwriting assumptions.
• Prepare debt/equity financing and government subsidy documentation for each project.
• Involve in contract negotiation and review of legal documents.
• Validate budgets, assumptions, and proforma analysis.
• Analyze and compare complex partnership agreements and cash flow waterfalls.
• Coordinate internal teams and external consultants through design to construction documents.
• Lead pre-development work like architectural/engineering issues and zoning.
