Job summary

Strava is seeking a Senior Manager, Detection & Response to own and scale security monitoring, incident response, and recovery for its global platform. You will lead a small team of engineers, drive strategy, and partner with Infrastructure, Product Security, Enterprise Security, IT, and Engineering to bake detection into systems by design.

The role requires hands-on leadership, curiosity, and the ability to operate in a high-growth environment.

Qualifications

• Seasoned security leader with hands-on incident response experience.
• Experience building or scaling detection engineering or security operations program.
• Strong understanding of modern adversary tradecraft and threat intel-to-detection skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead incident response and security operations as senior escalation point.
• Build and mature detection engineering across cloud, endpoint, and application layers.
• Own the security logging and telemetry pipeline for detection readiness.
• Shape operating model for in-house vs managed services and vendors, with measurable outcomes.
• Leverage outside threat intel to improve detection.
• Modernize SOC with automation and AI to speed response.
• Manage incident playbooks, on-call, escalation paths, and tabletop exercises.
• Deliver executive-ready reporting on incident trends and program maturity.
• Build and coach a small team of detection and response engineers.
• Apply threat intelligence to proactive detection and threats hunts.
