Job summary

Ruby Labs Ltd is seeking a Senior Desktop Engineer to own a cross‑platform desktop product from first commit to production. The role covers Electron architecture, native modules in Swift and C++, and a focus on secure distribution, notarization, and auto‑update.

You will lead the desktop engineering voice, ensuring reliable performance across macOS and Windows, including real‑time audio capture, overlays, and global shortcuts. This is a high‑ownership, highly technical role.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of software engineering experience, including production‑grade TypeScript/Node.js.
• 3+ years building and shipping Electron applications to real end users.
• Hands‑on native macOS development in Swift/Obj‑C with Core Audio or ScreenCaptureKit.
• Experience writing native Node addons or with out‑of‑process native helpers.
• Proven macOS code signing, notarization, entitlements and TCC knowledge.
• Working knowledge of Windows desktop APIs and IBM/OS integration.

Responsibilities

• Own the Electron architecture end to end (main, renderer, IPC) and deliver major features on schedule.
• Build and maintain a transparent, robust native layer with Swift and C++ integration.
• Own distribution: code signing, notarization, entitlements, and auto‑update pipelines.
• Design platform abstractions so macOS and Windows implementations stay isolated and testable.
• Manage crash reporting and production telemetry for the desktop client.
