Job Summary
The Senior Desktop Engineer will lead desktop engineering functions, implementation, systems administration, and support for 300+ end users. This role collaborates closely with the IT Department and takes ownership of the Firm’s desktop engineering initiatives, contributing to systems infrastructure, architecture, and project direction. Responsibilities include daily monitoring, management, troubleshooting, and issue resolution for the firm’s operating systems and endpoints, as well as supporting enterprise applications and document management software. The role involves day-to-day support, end-user application support, and project work.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and resolve Level II and III support tickets related to desktop performance, application errors, Outlook issues, and peripherals.
- Create, update, troubleshoot, and manage workstation packages and applications using enterprise tools like Intune, MECM, and virtualization technologies.
- Maintain and support Azure or VMWare Horizon virtual desktops (VDI).
- Mentor junior Desktop Engineers and Help Desk Analysts on hardware and problem-solving skills.
- Plan and implement patches, hotfixes, and upgrades using Intune, MECM, and Client Management Gateway.
- Support desktop endpoint security, including antivirus, malware, hardware, and software controls.
- Collaborate with vendors for system and application support, initiate service calls, and schedule work.
- Provide root cause analysis, identify trends, and recommend improvements.
- Mentor and cross-train team members on existing and new technologies.
- Maintain inventory and asset configurations.
- Administer and support core technologies within the firm.
- Participate in on-call rotations, accessible via mobile and remote access.
Technical Requirements
- 7+ years troubleshooting desktop hardware and software issues in an enterprise environment.
- 7+ years in technical services and support.
- 5+ years managing VMWare Horizon or Azure VDI platforms.
- Strong knowledge of hardware components, resource monitoring, Event Logs, and root cause analysis.
- Expertise in Microsoft Intune, MECM, Entra ID, and Active Directory, including group policies and AD replication.
- Familiarity with PowerShell and VB scripting.
- Legal experience is preferred but not required.
- Experience with managing desktop environments using Microsoft Intune, MECM, or similar platforms.
