Job summary

Fourth Floor is seeking a Senior Designer to lead the creative development and execution of seasonal Kids outerwear across multiple brands. You will drive design concepts, color palettes, and silhouette strategies while mentoring junior designers and collaborating with production teams.

The ideal candidate will have 5–8+ years of apparel design experience, strong garment construction knowledge, and proficiency in Illustrator, Photoshop, PLM, and Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Design, or related field.
• 5–8+ years of apparel design experience, ideally in children’s outerwear.
• Strong knowledge of garment construction, fabrics, trims, graphics, and print development.
• Proficiency in Illustrator, Photoshop, PLM systems, and Microsoft Office.
• Excellent organizational, project management, presentation, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of Kids outerwear collections.
• Create seasonal concepts, color palettes, print stories, graphics, and silhouette strategies.
• Market research and trend analysis domestically and internationally.
• Present concepts to retailers and senior leadership.
• Develop CADs, tech sketches, artwork packages, and product specs.
• Collaborate with Technical Design, Sourcing, and Production.
• Participate in fit sessions and sample reviews.
• Mentor junior designers and contribute to department direction.
• Collaborate on costing to balance design with margins.
• Support licensed and private-label businesses across channels.

What You’ll Do

• Lead the design and development of Kids outerwear collections
• Create seasonal concepts, color palettes, print stories, graphics, and silhouette strategies
• Conduct domestic and international market shopping and trend research
• Present product concepts and seasonal assortments to retail partners and senior leadership
• Develop CADs, technical sketches, artwork packages, and product specifications
• Partner closely with Technical Design, Sourcing, and Production throughout development
• Participate in fit sessions and sample reviews
• Mentor junior designers and contribute to the creative direction of the department
• Collaborate on costing initiatives to balance design vision with margin objectives
• Support licensed and private-label businesses across multiple distribution channels

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Design, or a related field
• 5–8+ years of apparel design experience, ideally within children’s apparel and outerwear
• Strong knowledge of garment construction, fabrics, trims, graphics, and print development
• Experience presenting directly to retailers and/or licensors preferred
• Licensed brand experience preferred
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, PLM systems, and Microsoft Office
• Excellent organizational, project management, presentation, and communication skills
