Amazon is seeking a senior designer to oversee visual and product design for the About Amazon website, which serves news and information about the company to external audiences. This role is on the Amazon News team, which sits within Amazon’s Communications & Corporate Responsibility org.

This person will lead the Amazon News design team, and will be responsible for creating visual designs for news and feature stories on the About Amazon site. This will include everything from straightforward graphics to more complicated motion designs that tell a more in-depth story. Outside of visuals for stories, they will also create assets and designs for use across various web products, including the About Amazon website homepage and special projects pages as well as the Amazon News email newsletter.

In addition to visual design, this person should have strong knowledge of web design and mobile UX best practices, as well as an understanding of motion graphics and animated GIF creation. They should also have experience working with design tools like Figma and Content Management Systems.

The ideal candidate is a strong project manager and creative designer who has experience working with editorial content in a newsroom-type of setting and understands how to use data to strategically drive designs. This person is an excellent communicator, and will collaborate with partners across other teams, such as editorial, production, distribution, and tech, as well as external vendors.

This person will manage a team of designers, including an in-house designer as well as freelance designers and vendors. They will set the strategy and design for our stories and our products, including our website and email, and will work with others across teams to execute on them.

We want someone who embraces innovation and experimentation, and delivers results with executional excellence. This person must be comfortable working in a fast-paced newsroom-like setting and be willing to roll up their sleeves to get projects done.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 6+ years of professional non-internship marketing experience
- 7+ years of developing and managing acquisition marketing or channel programs experience
- Experience using data and metrics to drive improvements
- Experience with Excel or Tableau (data manipulation, macros, charts and pivot tables)
- Experience building, executing and scaling cross-functional marketing programs
- Experience developing and executing campaigns across a multitude of timezones and languages

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience driving direction and alignment with large cross-functional teams and agency partners
- Experience designing and executing joint marketing plans with strategic alliance partners with global footprint

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $106,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
