Job summary

Speak is building a human‑level, AI‑powered tutor. We are hiring a seasoned Designer to improve how design and engineering work together, starting with a world‑class, agent‑first design system.

You’ll own the design quality, semantics, and product usefulness of the system, collaborating with engineers on APIs, constraints, and adoption. You'll help shape agent‑first workflows, establish design standards, and ensure accessible, scalable experiences across iOS, Android, and web.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in product design with depth in design systems.
• Experience building a design system with tokens, component APIs, and single source of truth in code.
• A systems thinker; prefers building reusable things over one-off features.
• Clear communication and cross-functional drive.
• Autonomy and end-to-end ownership.
• Fluency with AI in your craft and workflows.

Responsibilities

• Own design–engineering workflow improvements and handoffs.
• Set quality bar for components and patterns; pressure-test with agents.
• Develop the semantic layer to scale design systems and naming conventions.
• Drive adoption across the design org with standards and workflows.
• Own usage documentation and QA workflows, with AI-assisted checks.
