Job summary

Gensler is seeking a Design Manager in Nashville to lead and deliver diverse project types through all design phases. You will act as the client contact, mentor junior staff, and drive design excellence while coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams to meet schedule and budget.

The role emphasizes strong leadership, deep knowledge of interior design/architecture processes, and extensive Revit proficiency, with relocation to the Nashville area encouraged for non-locals.

Qualifications

• Design Management and Project Management experience required
• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Interior Design or Architecture
• 15+ years of experience
• Registered Interior Designer or Architect
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
• Knowledge and experience in all phases of interior design/architectural projects
• Proficiency in Revit
• Experience managing consultant teams and resolving complex technical and design issues

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver a variety of project types and sizes through all phases
• Be the main point of contact for the client and mentor junior staff
• Develop and nurture relationships with clients and optimize opportunities
• Ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget
• Lead cross-functional project teams
• Manage project scopes, timelines, and fees
• Prepare and review proposals, contracts, and consultant agreements
• Coordinate with structural, MEP, lighting, AV, landscape, civil and other consultants
• Support business development with current and potential clients
• Contribute to project reports and staffing meetings
• Review internal project accounting and draft billing
• Collaborate with Design Director and marketing to document project stories
