Job summary

Mortenson seeks an experienced Senior Design Phase Manager for its Power Delivery Solutions group. You will lead design teams, ensure alignment with the owner’s vision, and drive budgets, schedules, and permits through design to construction.

The role requires 12+ years of experience, strong leadership, and effective communication. Expect collaboration with owners, architects, and engineers across diverse projects, with travel up to 100%.

• Bachelor's degree in construction-related field or equivalent
• Minimum 12 years of related experience
• Risk management skills essential
• Microsoft Office and project tools at intermediate level
• Strong communication and listening skills; openness to feedback
• Ability to travel up to 100%

Responsibilities

• Lead design phase team to ensure customer experience, financial performance, and smooth transition to construction
• Align scope, budget, and schedule; ensure construction readiness
• Establish and manage project budget, scope expectations, and budget logs
• Create and manage project schedules and milestones; hold team accountable
• Obtain regulatory approvals and permits
• Align design documents with project execution plan
• Handle bid packages and contract manuals
• Resolve technical design and specification concerns
• Develop or review project margin plans; minimize risk and enhance opportunities
• Act as primary contact with owners, architects, engineers, and trade partners
• Monitor and measure project success factors
• Foster integrated team experience with clear roles and communication
• Facilitate designer selection and contracting for design-build projects
• Mentor and guide design phase team members for career growth
• Develop and present project proposals
• Build relationships across diverse backgrounds and levels
• Lead by example, coach, and manage performance
