Job summary

Gensler seeks a Senior Design Manager in Melbourne to direct multidisciplinary design teams and consultants on marquee sports and entertainment projects from concept to completion. You will oversee architectural delivery, maintain client relationships, and drive project profitability across all project phases.

Candidates bring 12+ years in architecture project/design management, an architecture degree, and LEED experience.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of project/design management experience in an architecture firm.
• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Architecture.
• Extensive experience in all phases of architectural projects, preferably for sport stadiums, training facilities, and entertainment venues.
• Ability to provide excellent client service and assure project profitability.
• Desire to lead teams and to mentor junior staff.
• High level of architecture competence and expertise in mixed‑use developments.
• High level of knowledge of state and local building codes, including accessibility.
• Sustainable design experience, with hands‑on LEED participation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for client presentations and coordination.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and project management, ensuring alignment with client goals and firm standards.
• Drive project delivery through all phases and ensure milestones are met.
• Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and work plans.
• Lead relationships with clients, contractors, agencies, and consultants.
• Prepare and review proposals, contracts, and consultant agreements.
• Track internal project financial metrics and coordinate with accounting on invoicing.
• Participate in marketing and business development activities.
• Manage mid‑size to large project teams and mentor junior staff.
• Oversee coordination and documentation for the project with QA reviews.
