Job summary

Gensler in San Francisco is seeking a Project Manager (Design Manager) to lead multidisciplinary design teams on landmark venues, overseeing delivery from concept to completion.

You will manage schedules, budgets, and client relations, mentoring junior staff and coordinating with consultants, contractors, and agencies to ensure profitable, on-time project delivery.

This role requires 8+ years in architecture, a architecture degree, and proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and MS Office.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of project/design management experience in an architecture firm.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Architecture.
  • Licensed Architect preferred.
  • Extensive experience in all phases of architectural projects, specifically for sports stadiums, training facilities, and entertainment venues.
  • Ability to provide excellent client service and assure project profitability.
  • Desire to lead teams and mentor junior staff.
  • High level of architecture competence and expertise in mixed‑use developments.
  • High level knowledge of state and local building codes, including accessibility.
  • Sustainable design experience, with hands‑on LEED project participation and accreditation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and Project), AutoCAD and/or Revit

  • Manage mid‑size to large project teams, assign and monitor completion of tasks
  • Support mentorship of junior staff
  • Oversee the coordination and document preparation for the project and provide quality assurance via review of project documentation

Role Overview

You will direct multidisciplinary design teams and specialist consultants on the industry's most influential projects. From world‑class stadiums to immersive live entertainment venues, you will oversee the intersection of complex architecture and the electric energy of a live crowd. As a Project Manager (Design Manager) at Gensler, you will be hands‑on from day one — fully immersed in every phase of project delivery and serving as the vital link between clients and multidisciplinary teams. You will do more than manage a schedule; you will help set the strategic vision and maintain the momentum necessary to bring complex venues to life.

Compensation
  • Base salary estimated between $100,000 – $135,000, plus bonuses and benefits, contingent on relevant experience.
