Job summary

Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) seeks a Senior Design Manager to lead design activities for the School Upgrade Program and critical repair projects, interfacing directly with the Division of the State Architect (DSA).

You will manage the District's design process end to end, directing architect assignments, setting goals on site, schedule and budget, and leading design reviews to ensure projects stay on budget and meet educational standards.

Qualifications

• 15 years of full-time professional experience in facilities design or capital project coordination (design, contracts, cost estimating, scheduling).
• 5 years in design, planning, and construction of K-12 educational facilities.
• Bachelor's degree in architecture or engineering is required; CA registration or PE license is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead design activities for the School Upgrade Program and critical repair projects.
• Oversee design process, appoint architects from pre-qualified list, and provide clear direction.
• Direct design reviews to ensure quality, value, sustainability, and compliance with standards.
