Job summary

MAAS Companies, Inc. seeks a Senior Design Manager to lead the School Upgrade Program for LAUSD, guiding design from conception through final handoff and interfacing with the State Architect (DSA).

You will direct architect assignments, manage budgets and schedules, and drive a rigorous design review process across the district, with ESOP ownership and a strong focus on educational facilities.

Qualifications

• 15 years of full-time professional experience managing facilities design
• 5 of those years in design, planning, and construction of K-12 educational facilities
• Bachelor's degree in architecture or engineering (required)
• California Certificate of Registration as Architect or Professional Engineer license (required)

Responsibilities

• Lead design leadership for the School Upgrade Program and critical repair projects
• Direct the District's design process for the Facilities Planning and Development Division
• Recommend architect selections from the pre-qualified list and provide clear direction to design firms
• Oversee the design review process to ensure quality, budget, sustainability, and educational standards
• Coordinate with District branches and participate in community outreach

Education

Bachelor's degree in architecture or engineering

California Certificate of Registration as Architect or Professional Engineer license
