Job summary

Kitchell seeks a Senior Design Manager to lead design management and pre-construction for a major courthouse project in the San Luis Obispo area. You will represent the Owner, manage design deliverables, schedules, and budgets, and coordinate with the Design-Builder and project stakeholders.

The role requires a strong background in Design-Build, DBIA certification preferred, and at least 12 years of related experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, architecture, engineering, or related field is required; Architecture degree preferred.
• 12 years of related work experience in project/construction management or administration; courthouse experience preferred.
• Design-Build experience required; DBIA certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plans and coordinates pre-construction activities for a design-build courthouse project.
• Act as Owner’s Representative with direct client facing responsibilities.
• Develop and monitor preconstruction schedules and budgets.
• Identify and mitigate design risks including schedule, permits, and budget overruns.
• Ensure design supports ADA accessibility and code compliance.
• Provide leadership and direction to project teams and stakeholders.
• Coordinate with Design-Builder and owner project personnel; conduct project meetings.
