Job summary

Suffolk Construction is seeking a Senior Design Manager in Los Angeles to lead integrated design-build teams from inception to completion. You will ensure design excellence, constructability, and timely delivery while coordinating between architects, engineers, and project stakeholders.

The role emphasizes proactive collaboration, robust design processes, and leveraging BIM tools to streamline workflows and reduce risk across multiple concurrent projects.

Qualifications

• Licensed architect or PE preferred.
• Professional degree in Architecture or Engineering required or preferred.
• Experience leading design management on complex projects.
• Proven ability to coordinate design teams across disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Lead the interface between design teams, Suffolk Operations, and stakeholders to meet project goals.
• Oversee design process optimization and coordination to produce buildable drawings.
• Manage design team meetings, workshops, and communications across the project life cycle.
• De-risk construction by identifying design gaps early and enabling remediation.
• Collaborate with preconstruction and Illuminate teams on constructability reviews during design.
