XPS is seeking a Senior Design Manager to lead the design delivery of large-scale, mission-critical
This role is responsible for managing the design process from early planning, campus layout, and
concept development through detailed design and construction administration. The position serves
as the central point of coordination across architecture and engineering consultants, internal
project teams, construction partners, vendors, and key stakeholders to ensure design solutions are
delivered on schedule, within cost targets, and aligned with overall project objectives.
The Senior Design Manager will drive coordination across all major phases of design, ensuring design
packages are technically sound, fully coordinated, constructible, and ready to support efficient
Scope of Role
- Lead the design process from early planning, test fits, campus layout, and concept development through detailed design deliverables and construction administration.
- Establish design scope, key milestones, deliverables, coordination strategies, and overall design success criteria aligned with the wider project schedule.
- Manage architecture and engineering consultants to ensure design solutions meet project objectives, operational requirements, cost targets, and quality expectations.
- Serve as the primary point of coordination for design-related activities across internal teams, consultants, construction partners, and other project stakeholders.
- Facilitate communication between architecture, engineering, and construction teams to ensure alignment across disciplines and timely resolution of design issues.
- Manage design feedback loops and ensure stakeholder requirements and project decisions are effectively incorporated throughout design development.
- Review drawings, specifications, design packages, and project documentation to ensure completeness, coordination, constructability, and alignment with project requirements.
- Oversee design-related construction administration and ensure design intent and specifications are accurately implemented by contractors and vendors.
- Address design-related issues during construction, coordinating with consultants and project teams to provide timely technical guidance and resolution.
- Manage relationships with architecture, engineering, and specialist consultants delivering design services and support oversight of associated contracts.
- Track design progress, milestones, risks, decisions, coordination items, and deliverables throughout the design lifecycle.
- Prepare and deliver regular design updates to leadership and project stakeholders, highlighting key risks, decisions, schedule impacts, and outstanding actions.

- Strong understanding of design delivery across early planning, concept development, detailed design, construction documentation, and construction administration.
- Ability to lead complex design programs involving multiple architecture, engineering, construction, consultant, and stakeholder groups.
- Strong understanding of multidisciplinary architectural and engineering coordination.
- Experience managing architecture, engineering, and specialist design consultants.
- Skilled at reviewing drawings, specifications, design documentation, and coordinated design packages.
- Strong understanding of constructability and the relationship between design decisions, project cost, schedule, and construction execution.
- Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to coordinate effectively across executives, designers, engineers, construction teams, and external partners.
- Ability to translate broader project objectives into clear and coordinated design delivery strategies.
- Strategic and solutions-driven approach to design coordination, technical issue resolution, and project execution in fast-moving environments.
- High attention to detail, disciplined planning, and strong organizational capability.
Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- 8+ years of experience managing complex design programs or large-scale development projects.
- Strong understanding of architectural and engineering coordination, design management, and construction administration.
- Proven experience managing consultants, vendors, and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Strong ability to review drawings, specifications, and technical design documentation.
- Experience managing design from early-stage planning and concept development through detailed design and construction execution.
