Job summary

Pape-Dawson Engineers in Orlando seeks a Design Leader for the Residential Land Development group. This senior role guides design from concept through construction, setting technical direction and ensuring consistency with firm standards.

You will mentor staff, promote design excellence, and represent the firm with clients and agencies. The role requires a PE, a BS in Civil Engineering, and at least 10 years of progressive experience leading complex infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.).
• Minimum 10 years of progressive engineering experience leading complex infrastructure projects.
• Demonstrated expertise in advanced technical design and multidisciplinary team leadership.
• Proven ability to mentor and develop technical staff while maintaining high standards of quality and accountability.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage clients, agencies, and internal teams.
• Active involvement in professional organizations and industry or community initiatives.
• Ability to work Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm with overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the design process for complex engineering projects across all phases, ensuring technical accuracy and consistency with standards.
• Provide advanced technical leadership, mentorship, and on-the-job training to engineers, designers, and production staff.
• Review design approaches, calculations, reports, and deliverables for quality and compliance.
• Coordinate with project managers to support scope, schedules, budgets, and resources for multiple projects.
• Review proposals, budgets, and client agreements for technical alignment with objectives and capabilities.
• Contribute to development and implementation of internal design standards, tools, and best practices.
