Onterris, Inc. is seeking a Lead Design Engineer for our San Diego, CA office.

You will act as the Engineer in Responsible Charge, leading multi-discipline design teams and mentoring junior engineers to deliver end‑to‑end water treatment systems for PFAS and other contaminants. The role requires a PE license, 10+ years of engineering experience, and hands-on involvement from design through commissioning, with up to 25% travel to sites and fabrication facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Civil, Environmental, Chemical or Process Engineering.
• Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in any U.S. state.
• Typically 10+ years of engineering experience in water/wastewater treatment systems.

Responsibilities

• Sign and seal designs as Engineer in Responsible Charge per codes.
• Lead conceptual and detailed design of water treatment systems for PFAS and other contaminants.
• Coordinate sub-discipline teams (process, mechanical, electrical, controls, structural) into one package.
• Set weekly design priorities and manage design deliverable schedule.
• Review and apply codes, standards and regulations to each project.
• Support fabrication, construction and commissioning activities and field acceptance tests.
• Travel 10–25% to fabrication shops, vendor facilities and project sites.
