Job summary

Contech is seeking a Sr. Design Engineer to lead the structural design and analysis of precast concrete systems, including connections, reinforcement, and transportation/erection calculations. You will review shop drawings, manage projects, and engage with customers to resolve issues.

The role requires a PE license, 5+ years in precast/concrete design, and willingness to travel to Salt Lake City, UT and Caldwell, ID. Remote work options are available as part of a flexible schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, with a strong preference for a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering with a Structural emphasis.
• A minimum of 5+ years of industry experience in precast concrete, reinforced concrete, and steel design, with prestressed/precast experience preferred.
• Professional Engineer registration and ability to become registered in multiple states.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, MathCAD, Concise, RISA-3D or other precast software; FEM experience is a plus.
• Familiarity with IBC, ASCE7, ACI318, PCI, AISC, AWS codes and specs.
• Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to travel regularly to Salt Lake City, UT and Caldwell, ID.

Responsibilities

• Structural Design: manage engineering, submission, and project management of structural designs and reviews.
• Structural Analysis: perform analysis and design of precast structures and connections per codes.
• Problem Solving: address issues and communicate with customers for mutually agreeable outcomes.
• Project Management: coordinate with PMs, drafters, estimators, architects, engineers, contractors, and production.
• Customer Engagement: collaborate with sales for promotion, specs, installation, and issue resolution; participate in calls with engineering firms, counties, cities.
• Sales and Estimating Support: assist sales/estimating through engineering efforts and support production/operations.
• Safety and Compliance: support health, safety, quality and environmental programs.
