Job summary

ManpowerGroup is seeking a Senior Design Engineer in Owatonna, MN to lead product design from concept through production, focusing on manufacturability and cost reduction. The role requires a strong background in mechanical design, SolidWorks, and experience with injection molding and die casting.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into manufacturable solutions and deliver robust performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years product design experience.
• Advanced proficiency with SolidWorks.
• Experience with engineering analysis and FEA.
• Strong knowledge of design for manufacturability and materials.
• Ability to lead cross-functional projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead product design and development activities from concept through production launch.
• Develop detailed customer, product, and functional requirements.
• Create 3D CAD models, assemblies, and engineering drawings using SolidWorks.
• Perform engineering calculations, tolerance analyses, and design validation activities.
• Utilize Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to evaluate and optimize product performance.
• Design components and assemblies for injection molding, die casting, and other manufacturing processes.
• Conduct and participate in Design Reviews, DFMEA, and risk assessments.
• Develop prototypes and oversee prototype evaluations.
• Support Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and cost-reduction initiatives.
• Execute product testing, validation, and accelerated lifecycle testing.
• Provide technical leadership for product improvements and customization efforts.
• Support manufacturing implementation and continuous improvement projects.
