Job summary

Havis Inc. in Hilliard, OH, is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to lead the product development process. You will design components and assemblies in SolidWorks, perform tolerancing and basic FEA, and collaborate with engineering, validation, purchasing, quality and production teams.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and 5–10 years of design engineering experience; experience with DFM, DFA, and ISO initiatives is a plus. Competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 5–10 years of design engineering/product development experience in SolidWorks.
• Experience leading a project or team in a product development environment.
• Practical knowledge of GD&T, DFM and DFA.
• Experience with manufacturing processes (casting, injection molding, sheet metal, machining, painting).

Responsibilities

• Lead project teams in the product development process
• Design/engineer components & assemblies in 3D SolidWorks CAD to meet all functional & structural product requirements including manufacturability & assembly
• Perform tolerance stacks and structural analysis as required to ensure designs meet requirements (Experience or knowledge of FEA preferred)
• Prepare component & assembly detail drawings for release to supply base for fabrication
• Develop parts lists/BOMs
• Support prototype and production builds with hands-on support
• Provide technical support to engineering, validation, purchasing, quality and production departments
• Lead activities to perform root cause analysis of product and part issues
• Support company technical initiatives (e.g. – ISO compliance)
• Mentor less experienced engineers on design techniques and best practices
