Job summary

Hilite International in Whitehall, MI (or Rochester Hills, MI) seeks a Design Engineer with hydraulic valve experience. You will develop robust designs that meet customer specifications, applying DFMEA, tolerance stackups, and DOE while considering mechanical, electrical, magnetic, hydraulic and pneumatic aspects.

Candidates should have a Mechanical Engineering degree and 5–7 years of related experience, with camphasing design expertise essential for this role.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and 5–7 years related experience, or equivalent.
Ability to visualize 3D features and translate customer specs into robust designs.
Ability to publish clear, concise Engineering Reports.
Must have camphasing design experience.

Responsibilities

Ensure that the product design meets the function defined by the customer specification.
Model and validate mechanical, electrical, magnetic, hydraulic and pneumatics physics.
Prepare thorough DFMEA early in the development process.
Create accurate tolerance stackups for dimensional and geometric tolerances.
Ensure that the design meets the cost target set by the customer.
Verify materials are appropriate and comply with customer requirements.
Involve the Account Manager, Mfg. Engineer, and Quality Engineer early in development.
Apply DFM and DFA techniques early in development.
Plan and execute DOE to support root-cause analysis.
Analyze test data to confirm design meets specs.
Collaborate with Test Engineers on test development aligned to customer specs.
