Job summary

Kimber Mfg., Inc. in Troy, AL is seeking a Design Engineer to design, model, and detail components for new firearm designs and product improvements.

You will generate CAD drawings, conduct prototype builds, and test concepts while interfacing with manufacturing and process engineering to optimize cost, quality, and performance. The role requires SolidWorks proficiency, GD&T knowledge, and experience with stage-gate product introduction.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in SolidWorks for CAD drawings and models.
• Understanding of GD&T and stage-gate product introduction.
• Knowledge of configuration control principles.
• Working knowledge of MS Office; statistics software a plus.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering support for firearms product design and development of new gun products, line extensions, and product improvements.
• Generate and revise CAD drawings and models, inspect components, and assist in prototype build and testing.
• Interface with manufacturing, process engineering, vendors to ensure designs are cost-effective and high quality.
• Manage bills of materials and track component status.
• Coordinate with the engineering team and Kimber functions to meet budgets and timelines.
• Prepare technical reports, design spreadsheets, and present findings to management.
• Collaborate with manufacturing engineering to implement assembly improvements and improve first pass yield.
