Job summary

SkyWater Search Partners is seeking a design engineer responsible for mechanical components, development, integration, and validation to meet performance and reliability requirements. The role develops 2D drawings and 3D CAD models to support design and manufacturing, collaborating with Sales, Quality, Process Engineering, Manufacturing, and CNC.

You will establish materials, fits, tolerances, and design specs, ensure function, safety, and quality, and release designs for production.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in at least one 3D CAD software for production-ready models.
• Knowledge of cutting tools, CNC, and conventional machining practices a plus.
• Excellent visual perception for fine detail quality inspection.
• Firearm design experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, design updates, and drawing releases on projects.
• Interface with Production, Tooling, Sales, and Quality departments in cooperative, professional, and helpful manner
• Establish testing requirements for designs and updates. Must perform or support testing as required.

This position is responsible for the design, development, integration, and validation of mechanical components and systems to meet established performance, quality, and reliability requirements. The role develops and maintains accurate 2D engineering drawings and 3D CAD models to support both design and manufacturing processes. Working cross-functionally with Sales, Quality, Application Engineering, Process Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and CNC Programming, this position ensures designs are functional, manufacturable, and cost-effective. The role also determines appropriate materials, fits, tolerances, and other design specifications based on product requirements and intended applications.
