Job summary

Turquoise Health is seeking a product-minded Design Engineer to evolve Pit Viper, our design system and component library, working directly in product code to improve usability, consistency, and accessibility across applications. You’ll bridge design intent with production, building/maintaining pv-components in Vue and as native Web Components for server-rendered surfaces.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building production web interfaces with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript or TypeScript
• 1+ years of direct, hands-on experience building or maintaining a design system, component library, or shared UI framework
• Strong visual and interaction-design judgment and ability to translate observations into implementation
• Production-level experience with Vue (or similar framework)
• Experience implementing WCAG accessibility standards in shipped components
• A portfolio or work sample showing before/after component or interaction work

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, document, and maintain reusable pv-components within our internal design system (PitViper)
• Create thoughtful component APIs, patterns, variants, and extension points
• Ensure components work within Vue apps and as native Web Components
• Collaborate with product designers and engineers through the full development process
• Refine layouts, interactions, responsive behavior, typography, spacing, and focus management in production
• Implement last-mile design delivery including loading, empty, error, success, disabled, hover, and keyboard states
• Review surfaces for visual, behavioral, and accessibility issues and fix at appropriate levels
• Improve documentation, testing, release processes, and contribution practices
